Meatloaf Meatballs with Boss Bell’s Glaze

This was a real hit during our demonstrations and is a great appetizer recipe for tailgating or taking to your holiday parties.  It really is a very easy homemade option to meatballs or you could even use it in the form of a meatloaf and then glaze with the recipe below.

1 lb ground beef (I use 93/7)

1/4 cup of Boss Bell’s BBQ Brew (no other barbeque sauce will do ;-))

1 1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp ground black pepper (I use coarse ground)

chopped onion or minced onion to taste (or you can omit them according to preference)

1 egg, lightly beaten

8 oz canned diced tomatoes (I love to use the ones with green peppers and onions or either garlic)

1/4 cup quick cooking oats

2 TBS brown sugar

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.  Mix all ingredients well and shape your meatballs.  You choose the size.  I prefer a bite-size ball which is smaller than most meatballs you buy premade.  Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes (watch for browning and desired doneness of the meat).  When they’re done, just take out and allow to cool a little.

TIP:  You may opt to mix your ingredients the night before.  Form into a large ball and cover he bowl tightly with plastic wrap.  This allows the ingredients to blend well, and the balls will not fall apart.

Now for the glazing . . .

1/2 – 3/4 cup of Boss Bell’s BBQ Brew

1/2 – 3/4 cup of Jam or Jelly (in the demonstration I used blackberry)

Melt on stovetop and bring to slight boil.  Pour over meatballs that are already in a heating crockpot.  ENJOY!

Boss Bell’s BBQ Baked Beans

2 – 28 oz cans Pork & Beans (drained and pork removed)

1/2 cup firmly packed Brown Sugar

8 – 10 oz Boss Bell’s BBQ Brew

1 large sweet onion (peeled and chopped)

1 large Granny Smith Apple (peeled, cored, chopped)

1 – 3.2 oz bag bacon pieces or 6-8 slices of bacon crumbled

Put in large casserole dish, mix well, and bake at 400 degrees F for one hour (uncovered).
